flags4events.com is a division of Ultra Sport Europe - now that sounds very grandiose whereas in reality we are a very small family owned business - there's just 9 of us here at both Flags and Ultra Sport. Being a small team, being privately owned, being an owner/operator business the one thing (amongst many others) we have learned is that service matters. Above all else ... service matters..

The next most important thing we have picked up on is that life is short - and it is important to enjoy what we do. And we do....and we like to think that we can do business with just about anyone and, at the same time enjoy what we are doing.

How did we come about? Well Ultra Sport is an extreme sports equipment distributor selling a wide range of products in tough and competitive markets and over the years we developed different marketing tools. Obviously we did a lot of work outside - in tough environments - on the beaches, on the hills and up the mountains - and we used flags all the time. And mostly we were disappointed with the quality and service and just felt we could do it better. Slowly but surely we developed a small range of goodies - and then other people asked us to help them out and hey presto - here we are ... with our own little "division' producing flags and stuff.

We don't want to take over the world. We want to keep it simple and effective and we're sticking to a small range of products - flags, banners and now a smart little Hex Tent range. That's it.

Time is money!

Well - do you know something - that may be right - but time is also life and life is for living. So on the time front let's say from the outset that we probably will not be the fastest supplier in the world - that's not because we've gone surfing or anything - it's just he way the business is set up. We need to streamline and plan production and keep the 'flow' going at a certain pace. We will always pull out all the stops for a customer, we'll jump through hoops and move mountains - when we can - but sometimes it is impossible - and if that's the case we'll tell you - above all else we do not want to let you down.

Finally - a word on the environment. It's really hard to say that we're "green" - the products we use, the inks we use - they are all consuming the environment in some way. Cannot hide that fact. But we are passionate about the environment and we are 'doing our bit' with, for example, Surfers Against Sewarage (SAS) and the Woodland Trust. We cannot change the world on our own but we're trying to do our bit and are always interested in ideas - if you have any - let us know.

We're not hanging over the edge of a cliff - but in business - in every day we are all facing challenges. Figuring this out we reckon that by being nice to people it will make those challenges just that little bit easier.

Getting your business to stand out is important, showing that you are different to your competitors is important, demonstrating that your business is smart, efficient, clean, up to date and worthy of consideration is important. Flags are not going to change the world for you, they are not going to set your business on fire, the customers are not going to come flooding to your door. But they are going to get you noticed - and that's a start.

Quality Counts

So does service..

We can go on and on about quality but to be perfectly frank it is pretty straightforward. We're not reinventing the wheel here. We get some material, print it, cut it up, stitch it up, stick it on a pole, stick the pole on a base and hey-presto... we've got a flag. There are areas where we can 'cockup' but having been doing this for about 10 years we've got it pretty well nailed and we can make flags, and banners in just about any shape or form.

But service is something that people seem to mess up on a lot - even in this day and age when every customer is so important. The biggest difference with us is that we say it how it is. We'll say if we can do something, we'll tell you when and how long, how high and how much. We'll keep you posted if it is going to plan - and we'll keep you posted in case it is not going to plan. Above all else we'll keep you posted!

If you want us to run then we'll do so.. but that's when things can go wrong. We'd rather walk fast than run...and arrive safely on time....
